For teachers Intermediate workshop
Build It Once, Use It Again
Creating AI Tools for Your School
Do you find yourself asking AI to do the same kind of task again and again, then explaining the format and making similar changes each time? A recurring task can be an opportunity to design a tool you can return to. For educators already comfortable with AI, this workshop explores the move from a conversation to a simple application. Using examples such as an editable quiz creator, a class update generator or a vocabulary resource tool, discover how to plan, build and improve an early version around a real need. No coding expertise is assumed.
What we’ll explore
- Choose a worthwhile problem: Identify a recurring task and consider whether a reusable tool would help.
- Describe the experience: Define who will use it, what they will enter and what they should be able to review or change.
- Build, test and improve: Explore AI-assisted building tools, try realistic examples and refine an early version.
- Understand what comes next: Consider how people would access the tool, alongside running costs, privacy and ongoing maintenance.
What you’ll work towards
Depending on the format, work towards a clear tool idea and plan or an early prototype to test and develop further. Understand the choices involved in turning a repeated task into something reusable, including when the initial investment may be worthwhile.
