For pupils’ learning Workshop for educators
Giving Pupils the Tools to Create
Designing AI Experiences for Learning
What could pupils create if they had a new way to express an idea, explore a possibility or bring an imagined character to life? Designing that experience starts with what you want them to learn and the choices you want them to make. This workshop explores how teachers can design purposeful, age-appropriate AI experiences for pupils. Using examples such as the Under the Sea Character Creator, consider how input, feedback and opportunities to revise can support creativity and pupil agency within a carefully designed activity.
What we’ll explore
- Start with the learning: Define what pupils should understand, practise and create through the experience.
- Design meaningful choices: Decide how pupils will contribute ideas, review what happens and refine their work.
- Shape the experience: Explore the prompts, interactions and boundaries that keep the activity focused.
- Test it as a teacher: Review the learning value, age suitability, supervision and safeguards before considering classroom use.
What you’ll work towards
Work towards an activity design or early prototype to develop and review further. Leave with a clearer approach to creating experiences in which pupils can think, make choices and express their own ideas.
